Our client, an award-winning, growth-stage lighting technology innovator, is expanding its remote sales-engineering team to keep pace with surging demand for energy-saving, IoT-enabled lighting controls. As the front-line expert for Lighting Controls Solutions, you will partner with architects, developers, ESCOs, and channel partners to design, specify, and deliver cutting-edge controls strategies that lower operating costs and elevate the occupant experience.
Key Objectives
- Act as the go-to resource on networked and stand-alone lighting controls, daylight harvesting, wireless sensors, and BMS integration for new-build and retrofit projects.
- Translate project requirements into control schematics, sequence-of-operations documentation, and competitive proposals that win business.
- Identify untapped verticals (education, healthcare, industrial, mixed-use) and nurture C-suite and facilities-level relationships to secure preferred-vendor status.
- Partner daily with outside sales representatives, distributor contacts, and application engineers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of turnkey solutions.
- Provide remote and occasional on-site commissioning support, troubleshoot issues, and convert challenges into long-term opportunities.
Required Experience & Skills
- 5 + years of hands-on lighting controls experience (design, specification, quotation, field startup, or technical sales) in commercial or industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of major controls platforms (e.g., BACnet, DALI, PoE, wireless mesh) and energy-code requirements (IECC, ASHRAE 90.1).
- Proficient with take-off and design software (Bluebeam, AutoCAD or equivalent) and MS Office suite.
- Proven ability to cold-call, build consultative relationships, and articulate ROI to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple active projects across time zones.
- Valid driver’s license and readiness for up to 30 % regional travel to project sites and industry events.

- LC, LEED-AP, or CTS certification.
- Experience integrating lighting controls with HVAC, shade, or security systems.
- Familiarity with rebate and utility-incentive programs across southern U S markets.
