Senior Electrical Project Engineer

What You Will Do

  • Lead the electrical design of commercial, institutional, and other complex building projects from planning through construction.
  • Prepare construction documents including power distribution, lighting, life safety, and low voltage system designs.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations to determine electrical system capacity, fault current levels, protective device coordination, and overall system performance.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, project narratives, and budget projections to support engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, owners, and contractors throughout project delivery.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, and contractor requests for information during construction.
  • Provide on-site engineering support through project inspections, field evaluations, and startup activities as required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers by providing technical guidance and project leadership.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, engineering standards, and quality assurance processes.
  • Support business development efforts by assisting with technical proposals and client presentations when appropriate.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • At least 10 years of experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, or other building-related projects.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering examination is required.
  • Expected to earn Professional Engineer (PE) credentials within two years of reaching this career level.
  • Demonstrated experience producing construction documents for commercial or institutional building projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical system analysis, power distribution evaluations, protective device coordination, and project budgeting.
  • Strong working knowledge of modern engineering software used for electrical system design, analysis, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license or active progress toward licensure.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical regulations, recognized engineering guidelines, and energy-efficient design principles.
  • Experience working directly with owners, architects, and construction teams throughout project delivery.
