Nutanix Support Engineer

Location: Remote / Nationwide (U.S.)

About the Opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing edge-to-cloud services provider that helps customers run mission-critical workloads securely and efficiently. To keep pace with accelerating demand, they are adding a remote Nutanix Support Engineer. In this highly visible role, you’ll own the health and performance of Nutanix clusters powering private and public cloud offerings, act as an escalation point for complex incidents, and influence future service enhancements. Join a collaborative team that values customer focus, integrity, initiative, and creative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier-2/3 support for Nutanix AHV and ESXi clusters, including upgrades, capacity planning, and Prism Central administration.
  • Onboard new customers by building and hardening clusters, configuring networking / storage constructs, and documenting runbooks.
  • Monitor compute, storage, and network health, triage alerts, and drive root-cause analysis to resolution.
  • Administer backup / DR platforms (Veeam, Zerto, or Commvault) and run periodic failover tests.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to Network Operations Center personnel, developing KB articles and training sessions.
  • Collaborate with site-operations teams to resolve facility-level issues (power, cabling, smart-hands).
  • Automate routine tasks to improve resiliency and reduce time-to-resolution.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to high-severity incidents within SLA.
  • Uphold security best practices by patching OSs and hypervisors, maintaining AV signatures, and managing firewall / IDS / IPS policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in IT, Systems Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years in infrastructure engineering or managed-services support, with direct Nutanix administration experience (NCP or NC2 preferred).
  • Hands-on expertise with at least one backup / DR platform: Veeam, Zerto, or Commvault.
  • Solid grasp of virtualization (VMware vSphere or AHV) and core networking (VLANs, subnets, routing, firewalls).
  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and vendor certification.

Preferred Extras

  • Experience with multi-site or ROBO Nutanix deployments.
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Python) or infrastructure-as-code familiarity.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, HIPAA, CJIS, etc.).

Why Join?

  • 100 % Remote: Work anywhere in the U.S. with flexible scheduling.
  • Growth Path: Clear advancement to senior engineering or architecture tracks.
  • Training & Certs: Company-paid courses and exam vouchers.
  • Competitive Package: Strong base salary, bonus potential, and full benefits from day one.
  • Impact: Influence the roadmap of emerging edge-cloud services used nationwide.
