Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of materials planners and buyers responsible for procurement, vendor coordination, and production materials support.
- Maintain and evolve Kanban systems to align with production schedules, including new product introduction and capacity planning.
- Direct the purchasing and inventory management of production materials, components, and finished goods.
- Work closely with vendors to negotiate favorable pricing, delivery schedules, and stable long-term supply agreements.
- Manage transportation and logistics activities, enhancing efficiency and performance for both incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Establish and monitor key metrics tied to on-time delivery, cost reduction, quality, and supplier performance.
- Drive accountability and process improvement in the ERP system related to materials management and purchasing.
- Reduce costs and improve procurement efficiencies through data-driven purchasing strategies.
- Champion LEAN principles across inventory control, procurement, shipping, and receiving functions.
- Work closely with production, operations, and leadership teams to anticipate materials requirements and minimize supply chain disruptions.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in materials management or logistics leadership within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with MRP/ERP systems, production planning, and inventory management.
- Strong background working with LEAN and Kanban practices in a hands-on production setting.
- Excellent communication and team leadership abilities, with a demonstrated ability to drive results through others.
- Adept at vendor negotiations, procurement planning, and supplier relationship management.
- Tech-savvy with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and ability to pivot quickly in a changing environment.
