Area Sales Manager
Location: Remote with frequent travel throughout assigned territory
A well-established consumer products organization is expanding its field sales presence across key Southern markets and is looking for an Area Sales Manager to help drive the next phase of growth. The right person will step into an active market, build strong retail relationships, and play a visible role in increasing distribution, merchandising execution, and account engagement. Focus
- Manage an established territory of convenience, liquor, smoke, and independent retail accounts while identifying new opportunities for distribution growth.
- Build productive relationships with store owners, clerks, wholesale partners, and distributor teams to strengthen account performance across the market.
- Execute in store merchandising, pricing checks, promotional placement, and point of sale support to improve visibility and sell through.
- Support existing business, expand SKU penetration, and open qualified new accounts within an active field based sales territory.
- Educate retail partners on product assortment, placement strategy, and promotional programs so they can confidently recommend the portfolio to adult shoppers.
- Use route data, account insights, and field activity tracking tools to prioritize visits, maintain records, and manage territory performance.
- Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, account trends, and local opportunities, then share actionable feedback with leadership.
- Maintain vehicle inventory, sales materials, and territory resources needed to support day to day field execution.
- Handle administrative responsibilities including expense reporting, basic payment handling, territory updates, and KPI tracking.
Skill Set
- 2 plus years of outside sales, route sales, territory sales, or field account management experience
- Prior exposure to convenience retail, beverage, tobacco, foodservice, CPG, or comparable high-velocity consumer markets is a plus
- Ability to build trust quickly with retailers and represent a brand professionally in the field
- Strong merchandising instincts and comfort working directly in store environments
- Comfort balancing relationship management, account service, and new business development
- Organized, self-directed, and capable of managing a daily travel schedule across a local territory
- Experience using CRM, route planning, or mobile field reporting tools
- Valid driver license and ability to travel daily within the assigned market
