Accounting Manager

Location: On-site, Fairbanks, AK

A well-established and growing organization in Alaska is seeking a motivated Accounting Manager to join its on-site team in Fairbanks. This is a hands-on role for an accounting professional who wants broader responsibility, direct exposure to business and project leadership, and the opportunity to see how strong financial management influences projects from planning through completion.

In this role, you will be more than just a number cruncher. The Accounting Manager will also partner with operational leaders to improve financial visibility, maintain accurate project information, and support sound business decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activity across the general ledger, job costs, accounts receivable, cash accounts, and fixed assets
• Take ownership of monthly close activities and produce recurring financial reports, cash flow information, and business performance metrics
• Prepare and maintain work in progress schedules while supporting accurate revenue recognition across active projects
• Partner with project leaders on budgets, cost performance, financial changes, and issues that may affect project results
• Prepare recurring customer billings and ensure invoices are accurate, timely, and appropriately supported
• Support cash forecasting and financial analysis to give leadership greater visibility into company and project performance
• Coordinate accounting support for audits, bonding requirements, and other financial compliance activities
• Maintain strong financial controls and accurate records across project-driven accounting processes
• Serve as a financial resource to project and operational teams, helping translate accounting information into useful business insight
• Contribute to additional accounting and operational priorities as business and project needs evolve

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Proficiency with Excel and comfort working with financial data
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Maintains an optimistic mindset and shows strong openness to development
• Exposure to project-based or construction-related accounting environments
• Familiarity with payroll or accounts payable processes
• Experience using accounting software such as Sage or similar systems
