Data Center Construction Executive 

A rapidly expanding global infrastructure group is seeking a high-impact Data Center Construction Executive to spearhead its U.S. operations. This is a unique opportunity to take the lead on an ambitious data center rollout across North America, overseeing all aspects of ground-up construction, commissioning, and delivery of world-class digital infrastructure. The selected individual will serve as the central figure in building out the company’s data center construction function across the U.S., with executive-level influence and visibility.

Focus: 

• Lead full lifecycle execution of hyperscale and edge data center construction projects across multiple U.S. markets. 
• Establish and manage program-wide standards, best practices, and project controls for construction and commissioning. 
• Drive high-level strategy, planning, scheduling, and execution across multiple concurrent projects. 
• Oversee the performance and coordination of all external partners including contractors, engineers, architects, and vendors. 
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and KPIs while ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld. 
• Serve as the escalation point for all construction-related matters; resolve challenges decisively to keep deliverables on track. 
• Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership in operations, finance, sales, and engineering to align construction efforts with broader business goals. 
• Lead weekly status meetings and reporting to senior leadership; ensure transparency across all project phases. 
• Contribute to pre-construction planning including site selection support, permitting, budgeting, and proposal evaluations. 
• Deliver innovative value engineering solutions to reduce costs and increase efficiency without compromising on quality or performance. 

Skill Set: 

• 15+ years of progressive experience in data center construction or critical infrastructure projects, with significant time in leadership roles. 
• Proven track record delivering mission-critical environments with extensive knowledge of UPS systems, generators, mechanical/electrical systems, and commissioning processes. 
• Strong expertise in general contracting, electrical contracting, or construction management, with direct oversight of multi-state, multi-project portfolios. 
• Comfortable operating in international or cross-cultural environments; able to lead multinational teams and coordinate with global stakeholders. 
• Experienced in applying a variety of construction contract models (e.g., lump sum, cost plus, fee-based, T&M). 
• Highly competent in budgeting, forecasting, material take-off, and cost estimating with a deep understanding of general conditions, labor, and overhead structures. 
• Adept in construction software, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite; AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.  
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to build consensus and drive progress in complex, evolving environments. 
• Able to travel approximately 35–50% as needed to oversee construction activities and engage with key project stakeholders across sites. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline required. 
• Advanced degree (MBA or similar) is a plus. 
• PMP, CCM, or similar professional certifications preferred 

Work Environment 

• Will split time between corporate office settings, construction job sites, and live data center environments. 
• Must be comfortable with exposure to varying site conditions, including occasional noise and temperature fluctuations.
