Engineering Lead, GPU Systems

Location: On-site in Fremont, CA

Our client is looking for an accomplished technical leader to direct a high-performing engineering team focused on advancing GPU-powered computing technologies. This position offers the opportunity to influence sophisticated NVIDIA-centered compute environments while shaping engineering execution, developing people, and remaining close to the technology. The ideal candidate combines technical credibility with strong ownership and a genuine commitment to helping a team succeed. For someone who wants broader influence than a narrowly defined management role, this is an opportunity to make a visible impact across engineering, technology decisions, and customer solutions.

This Role Offers

  • Hands-on experience working with NVIDIA-based platforms and solutions designed for complex artificial intelligence and large-scale computational environments.
  • Significant visibility and the opportunity to influence technical direction, engineering practices, and solution development.
  • Competitive base compensation with flexibility based on experience and overall fit, plus a company-performance-based bonus opportunity.

Focus

  • Guide and develop a small engineering team, creating clear expectations while helping individual contributors expand their technical capabilities.
  • Guide the development and ongoing improvement of advanced computing solutions supporting complex technical applications.
  • Maintain enough hands-on involvement with GPU servers, clustered computing, storage, and networking to effectively guide engineering decisions.
  • Translate technical and business requirements into engineering priorities, project plans, resource needs, and achievable milestones.
  • Enhance technical processes used to evaluate system capabilities, confirm overall functionality, and support successful implementation.
  • Evaluate emerging GPU and infrastructure technologies and provide practical recommendations on their potential use.
  • Collaborate with commercial, production, and operations stakeholders as technical solutions move from initial requirements through delivery.
  • Participate in complex customer discussions where senior engineering judgment can help define the right technical approach.
  • Encourage an engineering culture built around accountability, initiative, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor engineers through thoughtful delegation, regular feedback, technical guidance, and opportunities for increased responsibility.

Skill Set

  • Meaningful experience with NVIDIA GPU compute systems or infrastructure supporting HPC or AI workloads.
  • Comprehensive understanding of sophisticated technical platforms and the core infrastructure required to support reliable, high-performance operations.
  • Engineering leadership experience with the ability to mentor, motivate, and develop technical professionals.
  • Hands-on technical credibility and the ability to engage engineers in substantive discussions about complex compute infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and remain accountable while contributing wherever needed to support broader organizational goals.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical teams, customers, business stakeholders, and operational partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities within complex infrastructure or compute environments.
  • Previous leadership experience within GPU computing, HPC, AI infrastructure, server systems, OEM, systems integration, or a closely related technical environment is highly valuable.
  • Management tenure will be considered in the context of technical strength, leadership potential, ownership, and demonstrated commitment rather than against a rigid number of years.
  • Experience with AMD GPU technologies, system integration environments, or customer-facing technical work is helpful but not required.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
