IC Net Engineer, Deployment
Location: Remote – Nationwide
Our client is rolling out high-performance AI data-center fabrics at record speed and needs an engineer who can turn world-class designs into production-ready reality. If you thrive on hands-on execution, love the smell of new optic trays, and want a front-row seat to the next wave of distributed intelligence, this role is your launch pad. Join a mission-driven team that values excellence, ownership, and rapid iteration, all while keeping the company name under wraps until you are through the interview door.
Key Objectives
- Own the on-site build-out of modern leaf–spine networks that power large-scale AI clusters across multiple U.S. data-center locations.
- Serve as the field authority who bridges Network Engineering, Data-Center Ops, and structured-cabling partners to bring greenfield sites on-line, on-budget, and on-time.
- Drive continuous improvement of deployment playbooks so each new pod turns up faster and cleaner than the last.
Core Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and activate next-generation switching fabrics for AI workloads across greenfield and expansion sites.
- Audit fiber paths, interpret OTDR traces, and coordinate remediation so every link meets strict loss budgets.
- Track racks, optics, and line cards from purchase order through production, managing RMAs and maintaining up-to-date DCIM records.
- Coordinate change windows, cutovers, and validation with cross-functional teams, escalating blockers decisively.
- Capture lessons learned, refine runbooks, and mentor junior technicians in best-in-class deployment practices.
- Provide tier-2 operational support during and after cutovers until a stable hand-off to NOC/Operations is complete.
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of hands-on data-center networking experience (EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, CLOS topologies).
- Proficiency in CLI-based configuration and validation on Arista, Juniper, NVIDIA, or comparable platforms.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting across physical and logical layers, including fiber inspection, power-budget analysis, and protocol debugging.
- Clear communicator who can orchestrate multi-team initiatives and document outcomes for future scale-up.
- Willingness to travel ~70 percent to U.S. data-centers; ability to manage remote work effectively between trips.
Preferred Extras
- Familiarity with AI/ML or HPC fabrics using RoCEv2, PFC, or ECN.
- Scripting or automation exposure (Python, Ansible, or equivalent).
- Experience with DCIM, asset-management, or inventory-tracking tools.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience, plus equity upside.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) or regional retirement plan with match.
- Generous PTO and company-wide recharge breaks.
- Continuous-learning stipend and direct mentorship from senior fabric engineers.
