DC Architect – Optical / Cabling
Location: Remote, Nationwide
A rapidly scaling, venture backed infrastructure provider is redefining how high-performance compute environments are designed and deployed across the globe. As demand for advanced AI and cloud platforms accelerates, this organization is investing heavily in resilient, high density data center ecosystems that can support massive throughput and next generation optical speeds.
The company is hiring a senior infrastructure architect to guide large-scale physical connectivity design efforts across complex, high-density technical environments. This is a critical position centered on shaping scalable, standards-based infrastructure solutions that support large, highly connected technical operations across each site. If you’re energized by complex infrastructure challenges and forward-looking design initiatives, this role offers the opportunity to help shape the groundwork for evolving technology platforms.
This Role Offers
- Competitive total compensation package including base salary and equity participation.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Generous paid time off.
- The opportunity to architect greenfield and expansion hyperscale deployments with cutting edge optical technologies.
- A highly technical, mission driven culture focused on excellence and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Convert high-level network concepts into scalable physical connectivity frameworks, including fiber and cabling infrastructure designs.
- Design comprehensive fiber infrastructure plans, defining multi-fiber connector schemes, backbone capacity planning, modular panel configurations, and cabinet-level routing approaches.
- Create port to fiber mapping standards that support high density, multi pod hyperscale deployments.
- Define optical transceiver strategies for 400G and 800G environments, including reach analysis and link budget modeling.
- Establish structured cabling standards covering patching architecture, pathways, labeling, and documentation.
- Ensure infrastructure readiness for future speed migrations and hardware refresh cycles.
- Incorporate physical connectivity details into infrastructure management systems to enable granular tracking of individual links and connection points.
- Partner with cross functional engineering and operations teams to support deployment, testing, and ongoing lifecycle management.
Skill Set:
- Extensive experience developing network infrastructure frameworks for large, mission-critical facilities, ideally within highly scaled, high-volume environments.
- Deep expertise in structured cabling systems from major manufacturers and strong command of MPO and MTP based architectures.
- Strong understanding of IEEE 802.3 optical standards and modern transceiver technologies including DR4, FR4, LR4, SR8, and coherent interconnect solutions.
- Hands on knowledge of fiber testing methodologies including OTDR, insertion loss testing, and polarity validation.
- Experience coordinating physical infrastructure documentation within broader operational or tracking systems.
- Ability to balance technical depth with practical implementation, cost optimization, and long term scalability.
If you are ready to design the optical backbone that powers next generation compute at global scale, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
