Energy Marshal
Location: Remote / Nationwide
A top-ranked builder of hyperscale and enterprise data-center campuses is expanding its commissioning group and needs an Energy Marshal to make sure every megawatt comes on-line safely, on schedule, and on budget. In this high-impact role you will set the standards for hazardous-energy control, lead multi-site commissioning teams, and own each project’s “first-power” success from day one through hand-off. If you thrive on solving complex electrical challenges, enjoy coaching field teams, and want a voice in how next-generation facilities are brought to life, this is your seat at the table.
What You Will Do
- Lead end-to-end commissioning for multiple projects, creating and executing Level 1–5 plans that cover pre-functional checkouts, functional testing, and integrated systems validation.
- Design the program by building commissioning templates, workflows, and SOPs that can be scaled across a growing national portfolio.
- Serve as primary point of contact for owners, EPCs, engineers, and trade partners, translating technical progress into clear, actionable updates.
- Direct field teams and third-party agents on load-banking, energization sequences, and live testing while reinforcing zero-incident safety culture.
- Audit drawings and submittals to flag commissioning risks early and recommend design adjustments that improve reliability and maintainability.
- Own documentation and turnover—from red-lines and test scripts to deficiency logs and final reports—ensuring nothing is left to chance at go-live.
- Conduct lessons-learned reviews after each activation and feed improvements back into standards, training, and future project budgets.
What You Bring
- 8 years or more of commissioning or energy-isolation leadership on mission-critical electrical systems (UPS, switchgear, ATS, BESS, generators, controls, and integrated monitoring).
- Demonstrated ownership of Level 1–5 commissioning for large data-center or industrial-power projects.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and LOTO best practices with a safety-first mindset.
- Experience creating test plans, energization playbooks, and field procedures that hold up under aggressive schedules.
- Strong client-facing communication and the ability to mentor electricians, technicians, and startup agents.
- Skilled in utilizing specialized commissioning and construction management software, alongside proficiency in MS Office suite and project timeline management tools.
- CxA, CEM, PE, or similar credential preferred; associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related discipline ideal.
Work Style & Travel
This is a remote role based anywhere in the United States. Expect periodic travel (25-40 percent) to active data-center sites for critical milestones. Project environments may include elevated platforms, confined spaces, temperature extremes, and high noise levels; proper PPE and adherence to safety protocols are mandatory.
Why Join
- Impact that matters – Your standards will dictate how billions of dollars of digital infrastructure come on-line.
- Growth runway – Join a commissioning group that is scaling fast with strong backlog and investment.
- Collaborative culture – Work alongside field operations, QA/QC, safety, and design engineering leaders who value your expertise.
- Competitive package – Market-leading salary, bonus eligibility, full benefits, and all travel expenses covered.
