Tool Room Manager
Our client is a fast-growing, precision manufacturer supplying mission-critical components to regulated markets that demand tight tolerances and rock-solid quality. Backed by significant recent investment, the company is expanding its domestic machining footprint and is looking for a Tool Room Manager to elevate tooling capability in support of new product introductions and next-generation production lines. Focus:
- Direct day-to-day activities for an internal tool room that designs, fabricates, repairs, and verifies production tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and custom work-holding solutions.
- Plan work orders, set priorities, and allocate labor and machine capacity to meet aggressive production and NPI schedules.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality to ensure tooling supports validated, repeatable processes while meeting ISO-style documentation, traceability, and change-control requirements.
- Champion robust preventive-maintenance and calibration programs that maximize tool life and minimize downtime.
- Coach, hire, and develop a team of CNC machinists, toolmakers, and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and pride of workmanship.

Skill Set:
- ~10 years of hands-on experience in precision machining, tool-room, or tool-and-die environments, with a solid command of metal-cutting fundamentals.
- At least 3 years supervising or leading multidisciplinary shop-floor teams, including responsibility for scheduling, performance reviews, and skills development.
- Deep understanding of fixture design principles, CNC programming and set-up, and a variety of tooling materials and coatings.

- Fluency in blueprint interpretation and GD&T, with the ability to mentor others on best practices for dimensional control.
- Demonstrated success operating within regulated manufacturing frameworks such as medical-device, aerospace, or similarly audited quality systems.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills; bilingual English/Spanish helpful
Preferred Extras:
- Experience supporting ISO 13485 or AS9100 audits, validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), and customer-funded tooling programs.
- Exposure to EDM, 5-axis machining, or automated tool-presetting technologies.
- Formal education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical training.
