Director of Business Development – General Contracting Construction

Location: Remote – Candidates must reside in or near Pennsylvania or New York


A premier, growth-focused general contracting firm with a strong regional presence across the Mid-Atlantic is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Business Development to join its expanding leadership team. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape business strategy and drive revenue growth by acquiring new client partnerships and strengthening existing ones. The firm is known for delivering high-quality construction services and building long-standing client relationships across diverse sectors. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive sales strategies for expanding construction service offerings throughout target markets.
  • Drive new business development efforts to exceed revenue and profitability targets, while strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver impactful client presentations and proposals in coordination with estimating and project management teams.
  • Build a strong pipeline of business opportunities through active prospecting, networking, and market intelligence.
  • Foster long-term client relationships by delivering excellent service, understanding client needs, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee account management activities, including contract renewals and ongoing negotiations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales pipeline activity, account plans, and reporting metrics.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities within commercial and general construction markets.
  • Attend regional trade shows, industry events, and conferences to build presence and strengthen brand visibility.
  • Support accounts receivable efforts and collaborate with internal teams to resolve outstanding balances as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ proven success in B2B sales within the construction industry, preferably in general contracting or commercial construction services.
  • Demonstrated history of winning competitive bids and securing long-term business contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and CRM tools.
  • Experience developing pricing proposals and budgets in coordination with estimating or finance departments.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and strategic thinking abilities.
