Principal Consultant, Manufacturing Transformation

Remote, Nationwide


An established and growing consulting organization is seeking a Principal Consultant, Manufacturing Transformation to help manufacturing clients improve performance, solve complex operational challenges, and accelerate business growth. In this leadership role, you will combine consulting expertise, operational excellence, and business development to deliver meaningful results while building trusted relationships with executive leaders across the industrial sector.

Focus

  • Develop new consulting engagements through existing industry relationships, strategic networking, and consultative business development.
  • Expand existing client partnerships while identifying opportunities for additional operational improvement initiatives.
  • Lead executive level operational assessments and manufacturing transformation engagements from strategy through implementation.
  • Partner with manufacturing leadership to improve operational performance, productivity, quality, supply chain effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate strategic workshops, executive presentations, and collaborative planning sessions with client stakeholders.
  • Lead multidisciplinary consulting teams while ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and with measurable business impact.
  • Translate complex manufacturing challenges into practical improvement roadmaps and sustainable operational solutions.
  • Mentor consultants, contribute to organizational knowledge development, and support continuous improvement of consulting methodologies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to manufacturing executives, plant leadership, and cross functional stakeholders.
  • Travel extensively throughout North America to support client engagements, generally Monday through Thursday.

 

Skill Set

  • Proven experience within management consulting or professional services organizations.
  • Five or more years of successful business development experience, including acquiring new clients and expanding existing accounts.
  • Five to ten years of leadership experience within manufacturing operations, industrial engineering, process engineering, operational excellence, quality, supply chain, plant management, or related disciplines.
  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and manufacturing transformation.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, facilitation, project management, and organizational change management skills.
  • Ability to effectively influence stakeholders ranging from plant floor personnel to executive leadership teams.
  • Strong executive presence with outstanding presentation and relationship building capabilities.
  • Ability to lead multiple complex client engagements simultaneously in a fast paced consulting environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Aerospace and Defense manufacturing organizations or other highly regulated industries.
  • Active or previously held U.S. security clearance.
  • Experience coaching organizations in structured problem solving methodologies.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management platforms such as HubSpot.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise wide operational transformation initiatives.
