Plastics Manufacturing Engineer - EBM

A highly respected leader in the plastics manufacturing space is seeking a Plastics Manufacturing Engineer – EBM to join their team. This role is key to driving production excellence across multiple facilities. This person will be instrumental in optimizing extrusion blow molding (EBM) processes and supporting equipment—playing a critical role in improving production throughput, reducing scrap and downtime, and mentoring others within the manufacturing operation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize EBM production processes, driving reductions in scrap, downtime, and overall equipment inefficiencies.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement cost-effective solutions through process and equipment upgrades.
  • Oversee equipment installation projects including new machinery and legacy rebuilds, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Analyze and improve production workflows by developing detailed work cells and CAD-based factory layouts.
  • Develop and track key manufacturing metrics to support compliance with both internal quality benchmarks and external regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document and implement process enhancements, ensuring successful change adoption.
  • Conduct risk assessments and drive process safety and quality compliance across all engineering functions.
  • Mentor maintenance and operations staff, offering support in troubleshooting and long-term skill development.
  • Prepare status updates and technical documentation to inform leadership and drive project alignment.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, or demonstrated expertise in EBM processing and plastic manufacturing operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in plastics production, with a focus on Extrusion Blow Molding (EBM) or Injection Stretch Blow (ISB) processes.
  • Familiarity with auxiliary equipment such as grinders, mixers, accumulator heads, leak testers, palletizers, conveyors, and labelers.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills with proficiency in MS Office, CAD tools, and manufacturing software systems.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and develop process documentation for various audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and process efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to mentor others.
  • Willingness to travel between Fort Wayne and Dayton plant locations (approximately 10–20% travel).
