Chief Legal Officer

Location: Atlanta, GA

An emerging infrastructure developer is seeking a Chief Legal Officer to establish and lead its legal function during a period of rapid growth. Reporting directly to the Founder and CEO, this executive will partner across finance, development, and operations to support complex infrastructure investments while helping shape the company's long-term strategy.

Focus

• Serve as the company's senior legal advisor across corporate, commercial, financing, development, and regulatory matters.
• Lead negotiations for complex infrastructure, real estate, construction, financing, and strategic commercial agreements.
• Advise leadership on governance, corporate structuring, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Support land acquisition, development, permitting, zoning, and related property transactions.
• Build scalable legal operations, including contract management, compliance programs, and outside counsel oversight.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic investments, financing initiatives, and business expansion.

Skill Set

• JD from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership.
• 12+ years of transactional legal experience supporting infrastructure, energy, project finance, construction, or commercial real estate.
• Demonstrated success negotiating and closing sophisticated, high-value transactions.
• Strong knowledge of development, regulatory, and commercial contracting matters.
• Experience advising executive leadership and managing legal risk in a growth-oriented organization.
• Prior experience establishing or leading an in-house legal function is strongly preferred.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and business judgment.
