National Sales Manager

Key Responsibilities
- Channel Leadership – Design and execute national retail strategy, setting revenue, margin, and velocity targets for home-improvement, hardware, and specialty-retail channels.
- Account Ownership – Serve as executive point of contact for priority accounts, cultivating long-term, trust-based relationships with buyers, planners, and merchandising leaders.
- Negotiation & Program Management – Lead line reviews, promotional calendars, and contract negotiations covering assortment, price architecture, placement, and marketing support.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Marketing, Product, Supply Chain, and Finance to deliver profitable programs on time and in full.
- Market & Data Analysis – Leverage POS, syndicated data, and competitive intel to detect whitespace opportunities, adjust forecasts, and deliver insight-driven growth plans.
- Reporting & Forecasting – Own weekly and quarterly dashboards on sales, GM%, and inventory health; present recommendations to senior leadership.
- Customer Experience – Champion best-in-class service metrics, driving speed-to-shelf, on-time delivery, and issue resolution across the retail network.
- Travel – Up to 40 percent for line reviews, trade shows, and key account visits.
Required Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
- 7 + years managing national retail accounts for consumer, building-products, or hard-goods manufacturer.
- Documented success winning space and driving double-digit growth with one or more of the following: Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace, Tractor Supply, Menards, or comparable big-box chains.
- Expert negotiator with deep knowledge of retail math, P&L levers, and promotional mechanics.
- Analytical mindset – comfortable translating POS and market data into actionable plans.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
- Willing and able to travel as required and to work remotely from one of the listed hub cities.
Preferred Extras
- Experience launching DTC or e-commerce programs alongside brick-and-mortar.
- Familiarity with category management tools (JDA, Nielsen/IRI, Retail Link, etc.).
- Background in plastics, building materials, or seasonal hard-goods merchandising.
