CNC Machinist, Programming and Setup Lead

Location: On-site | Spring Hill, FL (Greater Tampa Bay area)

Elevate your craft in a vertically-integrated, precision-manufacturing environment. Our client - an established producer of high-tolerance electromechanical components for regulated industries such as medical device, aerospace, and defense - builds everything from raw material through finished assemblies under one roof. They are expanding their machining team and need a CNC Machinist, Programming and Setup Lead who can take a part from print to proof on first pass. You will own full-cycle programming, set-up, and operation for Haas mills using FeatureCAM, delivering micron-level parts that power life-changing technologies.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate FeatureCAM programs and optimize tool paths for Haas 3-axis vertical machining centers, reducing cycle times while holding sub-0.001" tolerances.
  • Select fixtures, custom tooling, and cutting parameters; perform first-article inspections; and shepherd jobs through production with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret complex drawings and GD&T call-outs, calculating critical dimensions right at the machine.
  • Inspect features with micrometers, height gages, and CMMs; document results and support continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs to keep equipment running at peak capability.
  • Work closely with engineering and quality on new-product introductions, custom tooling concepts, and process improvements.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3 + years programming, setting up, and operating Haas vertical mills with FeatureCAM (or similar CAM) experience.
  • Demonstrated success machining ultra-tight-tolerance parts in medical-device, aerospace, or similar environments.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints/GD&T and using precision metrology tools.
  • Trade-school certificate or equivalent hands-on experience; competence with general tool-room equipment.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-moving, vertically integrated shop.

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday–Friday; optional overtime available.
  • Compensation: Target range $55 k – $75 k (salary or hourly, DOE) with flexibility for exceptional talent plus full benefits.
  • Culture perks: Work-life balance is a priority; one-round on-site interview lets you see the machines and meet the team.

Why Join

  • Hands-on ownership: Program, set up, and run your own jobs - no siloed departments.
  • Career runway: Access full product lifecycle (machining, stamping, PCB, assembly) and cross-train with engineering, quality, and R&D.
  • Stability & growth: Privately held, financially strong company willing to invest in top talent and new technology.
