Chip Design Consultant – Part Time Remote

Location: Remote, United States

In this role, you will work on cutting-edge challenges that shape next-generation chip development, all within a flexible, part-time, fully remote environment.


What You Will Do

  • Analyze and contribute to full chip development workflows, spanning RTL through physical implementation
  • Review and provide feedback on system architectures and hardware design approaches generated through advanced modeling techniques
  • Support development of automated validation pipelines, including synthesis, timing, and power evaluation
  • Assess tradeoffs across power, performance, and area to guide optimal design decisions
  • Collaborate in exploratory and research-driven environments where project scope may evolve
  • Provide subject matter expertise to improve design methodologies and overall system understanding


Core Focus Areas

  • End-to-end ASIC design processes, from RTL through layout
  • FPGA-based system design, prototyping, and deployment
  • Synthesis, floorplanning, and timing optimization strategies
  • Low-power design techniques, including clock gating and multi-threshold approaches


Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Deep knowledge of ASIC or FPGA design environments
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in Python for scripting and automation
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, research-oriented setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting full chip tape-out cycles
  • Familiarity with design for test methodologies or physical design concepts
  • Exposure to open-source or commercial EDA tools such as synthesis and timing platforms
