Our client is seeking an experienced federal construction professional to step into an urgent, high-impact assignment supporting an active U.S. government construction program. This is an opportunity for someone with meaningful U.S. Army Corps of Engineers experience to immediately add value during a critical stage of project delivery. The position offers unusual flexibility, including a fully supported Alaska deployment option as well as a remote arrangement for the right candidate. Success in this position is driven more by relevant project knowledge, strong communication across technical teams, and the ability to independently manage complex responsibilities.
This Role Offers:
- Direct access to senior operational leadership and the ability to take ownership of immediate project priorities.
- An opportunity well suited to experienced Project Managers, Construction Managers, Project Engineers, Quality Control professionals, or former USACE professionals.
- A results-focused environment where practical experience, judgment, and communication matter more than title.
Focus:
- Take ownership of near-term preconstruction priorities, with particular attention to submittals and procurement activities.
- Serve as a dependable communication bridge between government representatives, engineering resources, and construction personnel.
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, technical correspondence, and related project information to identify practical construction implications.
- Translate engineering and government requirements into clear, actionable information for field and project personnel.
- Keep technical questions, documentation, and stakeholder responses progressing so unresolved issues do not interfere with execution.
- Coordinate project information and follow through with the appropriate parties on outstanding technical and preconstruction matters.
- Navigate detailed federal review processes and challenging stakeholder conversations with patience, professionalism, and composure.
- Operate effectively within a lean project team where priorities can shift and responsibilities may extend beyond traditional job-title boundaries.
- Apply independent judgment, resourcefulness, and practical construction knowledge to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
Skill Set:
- Meaningful direct construction experience working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is required and is the primary qualification for this opportunity.
- Strong technical construction knowledge, including the ability to interpret plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly when working through detailed, repetitive, conflicting, or technically challenging federal discussions.
- Demonstrated patience, professionalism, maturity, and emotional control when navigating demanding stakeholder environments.
- Ability to connect government and engineering requirements with the realities of construction and field execution.
- Strong judgment, reasoning, problem-solving ability, creativity, and resourcefulness.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Previous titles may include Project Manager, Construction Manager, Project Engineer, Quality Control Manager, or another federal construction position. A Project Manager title is not required.
- Ability to commit to a short-term assignment through either a meaningful onsite schedule or an agreed remote work arrangement.
- Onsite candidates should be prepared for approximately five to six workdays per week. Remote candidates should have realistic availability for approximately 20 to 30 hours per week at minimum.
