Senior Knowledge Graph Engineer
Location: On-site in California – relocation assistance available
The Opportunity
A stealth-mode, venture-backed AI company in the built-world space is turning mountains of construction drawings, 3-D models, documents, and sensor data into real-time decisions. Their platform blends graph technology, vector search, and agent-based reasoning to eliminate weeks of manual pre-construction effort. As the Senior Knowledge Graph Engineer, you will be the technical owner for everything graph-related – from schema evolution to production query performance – and shape how hundreds of terabytes of multimodal data are transformed into powerful knowledge flows.
Compensation & Growth
- Competitive base salary, with flexibility for exceptional talent.
- Meaningful employee-equity allocation.
- Full medical, dental, vision, and an annual learning stipend.
- Clear path to Staff Engineer or future leadership as the graph team grows.
What You’ll Tackle
- Architect, implement, and harden the company’s core knowledge graph, including node and relationship design, ingestion pipelines, and entity resolution.
- Build and tune graph-data infrastructure that scales across millions of construction drawings, images, and text documents while supporting low-latency traversal and reasoning.
- Marry graph search with vector embeddings and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, enabling agents to answer complex domain questions in seconds.
- Define and monitor metrics for ingestion speed, query performance, and recommendation accuracy, feeding the results into an internal EVAL framework for continuous improvement.
- Partner daily with ML, computer-vision, and product teams to translate real construction workflows into graph models the platform can reason over.
- Mentor fellow engineers on graph best practices and represent the graph pillar in client demos and investor milestones.
What You Bring
- 10+ years designing and operating production knowledge graphs or large-scale graph databases (Neo4j, TigerGraph, JanusGraph, AWS Neptune, etc.).
- Fluency in Python, Java, or Scala and deep knowledge of Cypher, Gremlin, or similar query languages.
- A track record of integrating graph data with LLM embeddings, vector search, or Graph-RAG style solutions.
- Experience ingesting heterogeneous data (documents, 2-D/3-D drawings, images) and performing entity linking at scale.
- Comfort thriving in an early-stage, high-ownership startup: shipping quickly, wearing multiple hats, and joining client calls when needed.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (TN visas also welcome).
Bonus Points
- Prior exposure to construction tech, AEC workflows, or industrial AI.
- Computer-vision or 2-D → 3-D imaging experience.
- Multilingual data pipelines and ontologies.
Work Environment & Culture
- On-site collaboration two days per week in a newly renovated workspace, alongside founders with proven track records in cloud AI, autonomous vehicles, and large-scale data systems.
- Fast, no-red-tape decision making, direct access to executives, and the chance to stand up a graph practice from scratch.
