Senior WAN Solutions Engineer

Location: Remote, Nationwide

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and support high-capacity, low-delay wide-area network systems spanning international data center operations.
• Lead circuit acquisition and manage carrier relationships end-to-end, including contract negotiation, SLA adherence, and escalations.
• Optimize interconnect routing, bandwidth utilization, and system performance across multiple regions.
• Coordinate end-to-end physical network links—such as fiber ingress, cross-connect configurations, and demarcation points—in partnership with site operations and infrastructure teams.
• Design and maintain forecasting models for bandwidth and capacity aligned to deployment roadmaps.
• Automate network provisioning, configuration, and monitoring processes using infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Implement VPNs, direct connects, and secure peering relationships with cloud service providers.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across routing, transport, and physical layers.
• Drive standards for fault tolerance, failover, and disaster recovery across the WAN footprint.
• Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams across compute, storage, software, and SRE functions to enable high-performance systems at scale.

Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in WAN engineering or network infrastructure roles.
• Proven ability to design, deploy, and manage carrier-grade WAN solutions, including experience with dark fiber, transport circuits, and peering.
• Deep technical knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and secure tunneling (e.g., IPsec VPNs).
• Familiarity with optical transport systems and technologies such as DWDM, ROADM, and coherent optics.
• Deep expertise in Linux environments, with hands-on experience leveraging automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, NetBox, or comparable platforms.
• Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, ELK).
• Excellent project management skills and ability to coordinate across distributed teams and time zones.
• Exceptional documentation habits including the ability to create runbooks, diagrams, and decision logs.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities and a high degree of ownership.
