RF/DAS Engineer – Performance, Commissioning
Location: Hybrid, Irvine, CA and Anaheim, CA
Work Environment and Travel:
Combination of remote monitoring, office collaboration, and on-site field testing. Travel within the region 20 - 30 percent depending on project needs. Occasional after-hours support may be required.

Our client, a rapidly growing wireless infrastructure integrator, is expanding its engineering team to support high visibility Distributed Antenna System deployments across large venues, enterprise campuses, and mission critical facilities throughout Southern California.

The RF/DAS Engineer - Performance, Commissioning will play a key role in optimizing, validating, and maintaining in building wireless systems. This individual will focus on DAS performance tuning, troubleshooting, carrier compliance, and commissioning across multi band and multi operator environments. The position blends field work, remote monitoring, and collaboration with cross functional teams to ensure systems meet coverage, capacity, and quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead DAS commissioning activities and validate system readiness in accordance with industry and carrier standards.
- Optimize in building LTE and 5G NR systems through RF tuning, power balancing, antenna adjustments, and uplink and downlink alignment to meet defined KPIs.
- Conduct walk testing, grid testing, and benchmarking using industry standard tools, analyzing results to confirm coverage, capacity, and quality objectives.
- Identify and resolve performance issues including interference, PIM, oscillation, uplink noise floor challenges, and desensitization in live network environments.
- Collaborate with field teams and technical stakeholders to troubleshoot hardware, cabling, and configuration issues across multi operator DAS platforms.
- Monitor active systems through remote management platforms, perform gain and channel adjustments, and proactively address alarms and performance trends.
- Validate propagation models and support post installation and post upgrade acceptance testing for carrier approval.
- Develop comprehensive performance reports, maintain accurate system documentation, and recommend enhancements to improve long term network reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in RF optimization or DAS performance engineering.
- Direct experience supporting large venue, enterprise, or neutral host DAS deployments.
- Hands-on experience optimizing LTE and 5G NR in building wireless systems.
- Strong understanding of RF propagation, link budgets, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience working with leading DAS platforms such as CommScope, Corning, SOLiD, JMA, ADRF, or similar systems.
- Proficiency with post processing tools and RF data analysis.
- Experience using spectrum analyzers, signal generators, OTDR, and related test equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- OEM or industry certifications related to DAS or RF engineering.
- iBwave certification or experience with RF design tools.
- Familiarity with CBRS and private LTE or 5G systems.
- Experience working in airports, stadiums, healthcare campuses, high rise buildings, or other complex venues.
