Manufacturing Customer Account Specialist
Location: Remote, Nationwide (Preferred candidates located near St. Louis, MO)
Travel: Approximately 10 to 20 percent travel for customer visits, manufacturing site collaboration, team meetings, and onboarding activities.

Our client, a growing manufacturer with operations across the United States, is seeking a Manufacturing Customer Account Specialist to serve as a trusted partner for some of its most important customer relationships.
This is far more than a traditional customer service position. In this highly visible role, you will act as the central point of coordination between customers and internal manufacturing teams, ensuring customer demand aligns with production capabilities while delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will collaborate with leaders across operations, planning, transportation, supply chain, production, and sales to proactively manage priorities, resolve challenges, and drive continuous improvement.

Focus
- Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned strategic manufacturing customers, ensuring a seamless experience throughout the order fulfillment process.
- Manage complex customer accounts by coordinating demand forecasts, production schedules, inventory availability, logistics, and delivery commitments.
- Monitor customer forecasts and order activity to identify potential supply or scheduling issues before they impact service.
- Partner closely with Operations, Production, Planning, Transportation, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Care to balance customer expectations with manufacturing capabilities.
- Lead customer issue resolution through proactive communication, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Track service metrics, customer scorecards, and key performance indicators while identifying opportunities to improve operational performance.
- Support standardized processes across multiple manufacturing locations while ensuring consistent customer experiences.
- Maintain organized customer records, activity updates, and account data by leveraging business systems, client-facing platforms, and operational reporting applications.
- Participate in customer meetings, plant visits, and internal business reviews as needed.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Skill Set
- Three or more years of experience supporting strategic customer accounts within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing high volume, complex customer relationships requiring coordination across multiple departments.
- Strong understanding of the complete order to cash process, including forecasting, scheduling, production coordination, logistics, and customer fulfillment.
- Experience working with ERP platforms such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar enterprise systems.
- Proficiency using CRM applications, customer portals, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.
- Ability to analyze competing priorities, make sound business decisions, and effectively manage multiple customer needs simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to lead challenging customer and internal discussions professionally.
- Strong organizational, problem solving, and relationship management skills.
- Manufacturing, industrial, packaging, consumer products, or related industry experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline is preferred.
