Technical Program Execution Lead

Location: Simsbury, CT or Moorpark, CA

Our client is a growing technical organization seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee complex initiatives and guide cross-functional efforts through multiple stages of execution. The successful candidate will have meaningful authority to drive priorities, align multidisciplinary teams, address risks before they become problems, and create the disciplined execution needed to deliver predictable results.

Focus:

• Take ownership of complex hardware initiatives from planning through production, balancing technical scope, delivery timing, project economics, and execution risk.
• Build practical execution plans that translate customer and business commitments into milestones, resource priorities, measurable deliverables, and recovery actions.
• Guide multidisciplinary teams spanning engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and other partners, creating accountability without relying on direct reporting authority.
• Own project financial performance by developing estimates, setting cost baselines, monitoring budgets and forecasts, identifying variances, and leading recovery efforts.
• Identify potential challenges that could affect successful execution, develop proactive solutions, and address underlying issues to support consistent long-term performance.
• Lead fact based tradeoff decisions across cost, schedule, and technical priorities, escalating issues with clear options and recommended paths forward.
• Support disciplined movement of hardware from development into repeatable production, coordinating readiness across technical and manufacturing stakeholders.
• Promote consistent delivery by establishing clear processes, monitoring progress, applying insights from prior efforts, and identifying opportunities to improve overall effectiveness.

Skill Set:

• Technical degree or comparable educational background, supported by several years of experience in engineering, program delivery, operations, or a closely related environment.
• Track record of owning complex hardware projects end to end, with direct accountability for scope, cost, schedule, and risk.
• Strong project financial skills, including estimating, baseline development, budget management, variance analysis, forecasting, and corrective recovery.
• Experience influencing cross functional technical and manufacturing teams toward a shared execution plan and measurable commitments.
• Demonstrated risk management, analytical problem solving, and root cause corrective action capability in high consequence project environments.
• Background in complex manufacturing, ideally involving aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated, high reliability hardware.
• Clear communication and organizational skills, with the judgment to prioritize competing demands and provide concise visibility to stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance and willingness to travel periodically, potentially up to 20 percent.
