Mechanical Superintendent

Location: Remote, Nationwide Travel

Our client, a nationally recognized design build construction organization, is seeking a Mechanical Superintendent to lead mechanical scopes across large scale projects throughout the United States.


The Mechanical Superintendent will oversee all field operations related specifically to mechanical systems on assigned projects. This individual will take full ownership of mechanical installation activities, including labor productivity, subcontractor coordination, equipment planning, safety compliance, and quality control.


This position requires extensive travel and temporary relocation based on project needs. Projects span multiple industries and geographic regions across the country.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site leader for all mechanical construction activities, including HVAC systems, piping, plumbing, and mechanical equipment installation.
  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all mechanical operations meet or exceed company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Partner with project management, engineering, and trade partners to coordinate mechanical scopes with structural, electrical, and architectural elements.
  • Develop and manage detailed mechanical work plans, site logistics strategies, and sequencing plans to optimize productivity and minimize conflicts.
  • Produce and maintain short interval mechanical schedules, driving accountability to weekly and four week look ahead plans while aligning with the overall master project schedule.
  • Lead daily and weekly coordination meetings with mechanical subcontractors and vendors, ensuring clear communication and proactive issue resolution.
  • Monitor labor, materials, and equipment utilization specific to mechanical trades to achieve cost effective project outcomes.
  • Inspect mechanical installations for compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards, addressing deficiencies promptly.
  • Support commissioning efforts and turnover documentation related to mechanical systems.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with at least 5 years of relevant mechanical construction experience, or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field may substitute for a portion of field experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience overseeing mechanical crews or subcontractors on commercial or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical systems installation, including piping systems, HVAC equipment, plumbing infrastructure, and related components.
  • Strong knowledge of construction best practices, jobsite safety standards, and mechanical code requirements.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and coordination documents.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to lead diverse field teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide for project assignments.
