Firestopping Business Development & Estimating Manager
Location: Hybrid – New York, NY (office, remote, and regular site walks across the five boroughs)
Our client is a high-growth specialty contractor that keeps New York’s landmark projects safe and on-schedule through best-in-class life-safety solutions. They are expanding their firestopping division and need a revenue-driven leader who can win work, price it right, and keep field execution on target. If you thrive at the intersection of relationship-building, technical take-offs, and margin protection, this is your chance to scale a book of business in a booming market.
What You’ll Tackle
- Cultivate long-term partnerships with general contractors, construction managers, developers, and facilities teams to secure bid invitations and negotiated awards.
- Monitor bid platforms and market intel to keep 4-6 weeks of qualified work in the pipeline at all times.
- Produce take-offs and labor/material budgets from drawings and site walks, then assemble clear scope narratives and polished proposals.
- Surface access constraints, phasing, and inspection milestones early so field teams start with accurate assumptions.
- Document and price added scope quickly to safeguard fee and schedule.
- Stay fluent in UL-listed assemblies, penetration/joint systems, and NYC code requirements so you can advise internal and external stakeholders with confidence.
- Partner closely with operations to be sure estimates match field reality, minimizing rework and margin erosion.
Impact in Your First 90 Days
- Add 10+ qualified opportunities (≈ $2 M total value) to the CRM.
- Deliver first-pass budgets within 48 hours of assignment at least 90 % of the time.
- Reduce proposal-related RFIs by elevating scope clarity and assumptions.
What You Bring
- 5+ years in firestopping or comparable life-safety scopes, with at least 2 years owning both business-development and estimating duties in the NYC construction ecosystem.
- Demonstrated ability to read specs/drawings and generate accurate labor and material costs.
- Existing network among regional GC/CM and developer communities.
- Working knowledge of UL firestop systems, ICC/NFPA codes, and DOB inspection workflows.
- Comfort walking active job sites to validate conditions, plus proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, and CRM tools.

- Valid driver’s license (or reliable access to transit) for borough-wide travel.
Compensation & Benefits
