Head of Product Development – OTC Portfolio

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)


A forward-thinking health and wellness company is on a mission to redefine consumer experiences in the over-the-counter (OTC) and nutraceutical space. With robust backing from experienced entrepreneurs and a clear vision for market disruption, they are building a new kind of health brand - one that is science-led, consumer-first, and built to scale across a dynamic digital landscape. They are seeking a product innovation leader to take the reins of their expanding portfolio and lead end-to-end product development with measurable impact.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the full product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization, ensuring scientific rigor and customer-centric design are front and center.
  • Translate market trends and consumer insights into compelling OTC and nutraceutical product propositions, aligned with brand strategy and long-term roadmap.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across R&D, regulatory, contract manufacturing, and marketing to deliver high-quality, compliant, and timely product launches.
  • Manage partnerships with CMOs, packaging vendors, and testing labs to meet cost targets, ensure regulatory readiness, and uphold quality standards.
  • Drive continuous product improvement based on KPIs such as repeat purchase rates, customer satisfaction (NPS), product margins, and operational metrics.
  • Build and scale a high-performing product function, setting strategic priorities and enabling agile execution across projects.
  • Champion claims substantiation, ingredient innovation, and compliance with DSHEA, FDA, and FTC regulations.

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in product development for consumer health, OTC, or nutraceutical brands.
  • Proven track record in launching and managing successful health-related products, preferably within D2C or digitally native environments.
  • Deep understanding of scientific formulation, regulatory guidelines, and product claims within the U.S. market.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, with the ability to align stakeholders across science, operations, and go-to-market functions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach and a passion for building transformative consumer products.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, resource-conscious, startup or scale-up environment is strongly preferred.

 

Performance Metrics:

  • Time-to-market and launch execution against plan.
  • Product-level margin optimization and cost control.
  • Consumer engagement and retention metrics (e.g., NPS, reorder rates).
  • Compliance with evolving regulatory and quality standards.
