MEP Architect
Location: Remote, Nationwide with preference for San Francisco Bay Area candidates
A rapidly growing technology innovator is seeking an experienced MEP Architect to help shape the mechanical infrastructure powering the next generation of AI computing environments. Focus
- Lead the design and optimization of mechanical cooling systems supporting high density compute environments.
- Develop liquid cooling architectures that integrate seamlessly with facility chilled water infrastructure.
- Design and validate chilled water distribution systems, hydronic networks, and cooling equipment selections for reliability and efficiency.
- Establish design criteria for thermal performance, temperature management, flow balancing, and pressure control.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure mechanical systems align with facility, electrical, and operational requirements.
- Evaluate cooling strategies that improve energy efficiency while supporting variable AI workload demands.
- Develop commissioning plans and verify system performance during startup and operational testing.
- Identify potential operational risks related to cooling performance, hydraulic stability, controls, and maintainability.
- Produce and maintain mechanical design documentation, engineering standards, and system diagrams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating emerging cooling technologies and industry best practices.
Skill Set
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Professional licensure is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years designing cooling systems for data centers, mission critical facilities, or comparable high performance environments.
- Demonstrated hands on experience with liquid cooling technologies supporting high density compute, AI infrastructure, or HPC applications.
- Strong background in chilled water systems, CDU integration, hydronic controls, and commissioning activities.
- Deep understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, pressure drop analysis, pump curves, and hydronic system performance.
- Experience designing systems utilizing cooling towers, economizers, variable frequency drive equipment, and dynamic load management strategies.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidance and other applicable industry standards for mission critical cooling environments.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex mechanical systems.
