Automation Technician II
Location: On-site | Menomonee Falls, WI
Schedule: 12-hour night shift, 6 p.m.–6 a.m., 2-2-3 rotation (every other weekend off)

Key Outcomes
- Bring new robot workcells to > 90 % OEE within 6 months.
- Coach 20+ operators on safe start-up and recovery procedures.
- Reduce unplanned downtime 30 % by introducing robust PM routines.
- Lead two kaizen events that cut changeover time in half.
Day-to-Day Impact
- Program, debug, and optimize Fanuc 6-axis and SCARA robots plus PLC/HMI-controlled assembly cells.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic faults across auxiliary equipment (ultrasonic welders, heat-staking presses, pad printers, vision systems).
- Own nightly set-ups of robots, EOAT, conveyors, degaters, and part-handling devices, confirming safe, efficient line starts.
- Maintain up-to-date work instructions, schematics, and back-ups for all robot programs and parameters.
- Fabricate simple guards, jigs, and fixtures with mills, lathes, and hand tools to support rapid improvement ideas.
- Champion GMP/GDP compliance and drive a zero-injury safety culture; identify and mitigate hazards before start-up.
- Train junior techs and operators, fostering a continuous-improvement mindset across the night crew.
What You Bring
- 6 + years maintaining or building automated production lines in plastics, medical device, or similar regulated industries.
- Hands-on expertise with Fanuc (or comparable) 6-axis robotics and SCARA systems; comfortable editing robot code and ladder logic.
- Technical diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Mechatronics, Electro- Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Current (or obtainable) Forklift and Lockout/Tagout certifications.
- Skilled in working with various equipment like mills, lathes, saws, and hand tools to fabricate or tweak parts as needed.
- Plus points if you've got experience crafting custom machinery or have a background as a toolmaker
