Accounting Manager – Multi-Entity Operations

Location: Remote, United States - Preference for those located in the Eastern or Central time zones

Our client is an established multi-location organization seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to strengthen its accounting operations and support a complex, multi-entity business. This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys getting into the details, solving problems, and improving how work gets done. Working closely with the Controller, this individual will have meaningful ownership across the close, reconciliations, financial reporting, fixed assets, audit support, and process improvement while helping create greater consistency and efficiency across a distributed operation.

Focus

• Own core close activities for a multi-entity organization, including journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and supporting schedules.
• Review general ledger activity and investigate unexpected balances, trends, and transaction-level discrepancies through resolution.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, clear reconciling items, and strengthen the quality of account support.
• Maintain accurate accounting for fixed assets, including additions, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and capital project activity.
• Support timely financial reporting by preparing account analyses, variance explanations, and schedules used in management reporting.
• Partner with the Controller and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting questions and maintain consistent treatment across entities and operating locations.
• Serve as a key contributor during year-end activities and external audits by organizing schedules, documentation, reconciliations, and responses.
• Identify manual or inefficient accounting workflows and help design practical improvements that increase accuracy, consistency, and speed.
• Support stronger accounting policies, procedures, controls, systems, reporting tools, and automation as the finance function evolves.
• Manage recurring close deadlines and special projects with a high level of ownership, organization, and attention to detail.

Skill Set

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting strongly preferred, with Finance or a closely related field also considered.
• Approximately 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience with strong general ledger, close, reconciliation, and financial statement knowledge.
• Hands-on analytical approach, including the ability to research discrepancies independently, review work critically, solve accounting issues, and improve processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel capability and confidence working within accounting and financial reporting systems.
• Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and recurring deadlines while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and careful attention to detail.
• Experience in a multi-entity, multi-location, restaurant, hospitality, retail, or other transaction-intensive environment is helpful but not required.
• Exposure to fixed asset accounting and external financial statement audits is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• CPA or progress toward CPA licensure is valued but not required.
