Business Development Manager – Data Center (Critical-Power Solutions)

Location: On-site in Kansas City, Missouri

A global manufacturer of mission-critical power systems is expanding its data-center practice and needs a high-energy sales leader to capture green-field and retrofit opportunities across the Central U.S. Reporting directly to the Director of Strategic Accounts, you will shape go-to-market strategy, influence multi-megawatt design decisions, and deepen C-suite relationships with hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise operators. If you flourish in a solution-selling environment and want your wins to light up some of the largest facilities in tech, this is your next career move.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Guide prospects from discovery through contract signature and power-on for backup-generation projects ranging from 5 MW to 50 MW.
  • Introduce our integrated generator, switchgear, and UPS portfolio during site planning to become the preferred single source for standby power.
  • Deepen executive partnerships at a select group of marquee accounts, driving renewal rates and multi-site rollouts.
  • Track new builds, incentive programs, and regulatory changes to uncover green-field pursuits ahead of competitors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams - Applications Engineering, Rental, and Project Management - to develop proposals that are both technically robust and commercially attractive.
  • Represent the company at regional user groups, data-center conferences, and trade associations.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, forecast, and expense data in CRM to support operational excellence.

The Experience We’re Seeking

  • 5+ years of success selling capital equipment or services into the data-center ecosystem (power generation, cooling, electrical distribution, or related).
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deals and surpass quota.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power systems vocabulary and Tier/Reliability frameworks.
  • Existing network of developer, owner-operator, and EPC contacts is highly valued.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business preferred.
  • Willingness to travel regionally 30-40 percent.

What’s In It For You

  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission and accelerators.
  • Full suite of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) with company match.
  • Generous PTO, paid holidays, and wellness incentives.
  • Collaborative culture inside a privately held organization that treats employees like family.
