Staff Accountant
Location: Lone Tree, CO | On-site
Industry: Renewable-Energy Logistics & Field Services
Schedule: 5 days per week; 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. core hours with occasional extended hours during month-end, audit, and ERP milestones.
Why You’ll Love This Role
Step into a high-growth, private-equity-backed clean-energy company that has scaled revenues from ~$600 million toward the billion-dollar mark at ~30 percent CAGR. With a new leadership team rebuilding the finance function, you will help craft processes from the ground up, gain full-cycle visibility across 20 U.S. legal entities, and position yourself for rapid advancement as consultants transition out and permanent leaders emerge. Expect a close-knit, food-and-fun-oriented culture (think Friday lunches and mid-week bagels) paired with significant resume-building projects in ERP optimization, audits, and M&A integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Cash & Treasury: Own daily cash postings and bank reconciliations, monitor liquidity, and prepare a rolling 13-week cash forecast.
- Month-End Close: Post recurring and ad-hoc journal entries for multiple subsidiaries, maintain detailed workpapers, and help shorten close timelines.
- Account Reconciliations & Analysis: Prepare and document balance-sheet reconciliations (fixed assets, accruals, intercompany, etc.) and deliver flux commentary to leadership.
- Fixed-Asset Stewardship: Update asset sub-ledgers, calculate depreciation, and partner with operations on capex tagging.
- Compliance & Audit Support: Compile schedules for external auditors, file state and local sales/use tax returns, and assist with regulatory filings.
- Process Improvement: Investigate miscoded activity, draft re-class entries with support, and contribute to ERP data clean-up and automation projects.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Provide transaction detail for lender requests, analytics for new acquisitions, and financial insights for special initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience (public or industry).
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
- Experience with an ERP environment; Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.
- Detail-oriented, able to juggle shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Willingness to work 45-50 hours during peak periods to drive catch-up initiatives.
Preferred Extras
- Exposure to multi-entity consolidation, project accounting, or private-equity reporting.
- Prior involvement in ERP implementations or large-scale process rebuilds.
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification.
What We Offer
- Competitive annual compensation plus bonus potential.
- Career Trajectory: Clear path to Senior Accountant and beyond as the team expands.
- Impact: Direct line of sight to the Controller and Interim CFO on high-value projects.
- Culture: Family-oriented atmosphere, frequent team events, and a people-first mindset.
