Deployment Engineering Manager

Location: Remote (Chicago, IL)

An innovative AI-driven systems company is seeking a seasoned Deployment Engineering Manager to lead the large-scale rollouts of their hardware + software solutions across North America. This role blends strategic leadership, technical execution, and customer-facing delivery - ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-growth environment where every deployment shapes long-term market success.

You will be entrusted to scale a deployment function from the ground up, lead technical teams, influence product direction based on customer feedback, and ensure exemplary execution that drives expansion and trust with key clients.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Deployment Ownership

• Lead the planning, scoping, execution, and adoption phases for customer deployment projects
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary engineering teams (hardware, edge software, field, vision/ML) to deliver integrated solutions
• Identify risks early, resolve technical/process impediments, and adapt plans dynamically
• Establish repeatable playbooks, templates, and tools to enable scalable deployment practices

Team Leadership & Scaling

• Hire, mentor, and manage engineers and deployment leads
• Drive consistency in technical standards, code hygiene, documentation, and best practices
• Design resource allocation models to support multiple concurrent deployment pipelines

Client Partnership & Success

• Serve as a senior technical-point of contact for high-impact clients
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Product to translate client needs into deployment plans
• Gather customer insights, feedback, and usage data to help shape product roadmaps and feature prioritization

Strategic Impact & Metrics

• Define and track KPIs tied to delivery quality, deployment speed, customer satisfaction, and expansion
• Present deployment program health and forecasts to executive leadership
• Contribute to strategic planning and evolution of the delivery organization

Qualifications & Experience

• Over 5 years of experience spearheading technical implementation, infrastructure rollout, or project oversight in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, automation, or connected devices.
• Proven track record launching hardware/software systems in enterprise and industrial settings
• Strong leadership skills, with experience managing technical teams through ambiguity
• Excellent communication skills - able to engage engineers, customers, and executives
• Knowledge of distributed software systems, image processing algorithms, model deployment, network infrastructure, device connectivity, and on-site maintenance.
• Comfortable with travel to customer sites across the U.S. / Canada as needed
