Product Development Engineer
Location: Houston, TX (On-Site)
A top-tier innovator in industrial and energy systems is seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation technology solutions. In this on-site role based in Houston, TX, you’ll take ideas from concept through production, contributing to design innovation, prototyping, and manufacturing readiness. You’ll join a collaborative engineering team working on high-impact projects in a supportive and fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will bring creativity, technical rigor, and a passion for designing components that support infrastructure, sustainability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Research new materials and engineering processes to support product innovation.
- Create and iterate on prototypes to validate design performance.
- Develop product drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation using CAD tools.
- Draft blueprints and engineering plans in line with production requirements.
- Contribute to the design and optimization of manufacturing processes.
- Analyze data from prototype testing and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Reduce production costs and enhance efficiency through strategic design enhancements.
- Use advanced design tools to create 3D models, simulations, and visual renderings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams.
- Oversee production trials and support the transition of new designs into full-scale manufacturing.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product development or design engineering.
- Strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar platforms).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to design and testing.
- Deep understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and related processes.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and compliance practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and quality.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and move for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. as needed during prototype handling and production involvement.
- Comfortable working in an active manufacturing and R&D setting.
Additional Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Eligibility for security clearance is preferred due to sensitive nature of project involvement.
