Project Estimator – Telecom, Data Center

Hybrid in Washington DC-Baltimore area

An established communications infrastructure firm is expanding its presence across one of the country’s most active mission critical and commercial construction corridors. This is a high impact opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys building smart, competitive project budgets and helping a growing team win the right work. The role offers strong visibility, a collaborative environment, and the chance to support complex fiber and copper infrastructure projects tied to data centers, commercial facilities, public sector sites, and other high demand environments.

What You Will Do

  • Lead full-scope estimating efforts for structured cabling and data center infrastructure projects, building pricing models that support profitable delivery from award through handoff.
  • Use advanced spreadsheet models and takeoff tools to prepare detailed estimates for projects ranging from smaller service-driven scopes to complex multimillion dollar builds.
  • Translate drawings, specifications, and field considerations into labor, material, and risk assumptions for fiber, copper, pathways, racks, grounding, and related systems.
  • Organize estimates by phase, location, or work package so operations teams can move quickly into purchasing, staffing, scheduling, and cost tracking.
  • Partner with operations, project leadership, and field stakeholders to identify scope gaps, value engineering options, and long lead procurement concerns before bid submission.
  • Help strengthen estimating resources, pricing logic, and historical cost tracking to improve consistency and speed across future pursuits.
  • Contribute to a growing regional practice that supports mission critical facilities, commercial campuses, public sector environments, and other high demand communications projects.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5 or more years of experience in telecom, low voltage, or structured cabling estimating.
  • Strong background supporting fiber and copper infrastructure projects, ideally including data center work.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with confidence using detailed and customized estimating spreadsheets.
  • Experience reviewing plans and specifications and converting them into practical bid strategy.
  • Solid understanding of labor productivity, construction sequencing, material flow, and field execution realities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with operations, field teams, and leadership throughout the bid process.
  • Experience with takeoff software such as Bluebeam is highly valued.
  • Candidates with field exposure, project management experience, or RCDD credentials will be especially well positioned for success in this role.
