Focus
- Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including customer invoicing, progress billing, collections, retainage billing, and final project invoicing.
- Prepare and process construction billings while ensuring accuracy, contract compliance, and timely submission.
- Partner with project managers to resolve billing questions, validate project progress, and support successful project financial administration.
- Maintain aging reports, proactively follow up on outstanding balances, and support healthy cash flow through effective collections.
- Process vendor invoices and assist with accounts payable activities as needed.
- Support project accounting functions including job setup, project cost tracking, change order documentation, and closeout activities.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with month end and year end accounting activities.
- Maintain organized accounting records while ensuring compliance with company policies and construction documentation requirements.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and support organizational growth.
Skill Set
- Minimum of 3 years of accounts receivable and accounts payable experience, preferably within commercial construction.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including progress billing, project accounting, retainage, customer invoicing, collections, and lien documentation.
- Solid accounting fundamentals with experience supporting journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
- Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, Vista, Foundation, or similar ERP systems. QuickBooks experience is highly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and organize financial data.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to collaborate across accounting and operations teams.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
- Experience supporting commercial construction projects with knowledge of project accounting workflows.
- Familiarity with construction compliance documentation, including retainage processing, lien waivers, and project closeout documentation.
- Experience working in an environment where adaptability, initiative, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
