Injection Molding Technician
Location: On-Site in areas around Brookhaven, NY and Connecticut

Compensation: $80k–$100k DOE
A leading precision plastics manufacturer is expanding its technical team and is seeking an experienced Injection Molding Technician to join operations in both Brookhaven, NY and Connecticut. This is a highly specialized environment where attention to detail, process consistency, and craftsmanship are paramount. Key Responsibilities:
- Execute full mold startups for both standard production and new tooling trials.
- Set up and operate advanced injection molding equipment, including automation such as take-out robots and EOAT (end-of-arm tooling).
- Lead material changes, colorant trials, and ensure processes are dialed in for quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot molding issues including flash, short shots, splay, burns, warp, and similar defects.
- Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to resolve production challenges and improve overall outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of mold setups, process changes, and cycle time data.
- Contribute to scrap reduction, uptime optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prioritize production needs in a fast-paced, multi-line manufacturing environment.
Required Background:
- 3+ years of hands-on injection molding processing experience (not just operating).
- Independent capability in mold setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in handling various thermoplastic materials and managing material transitions.
- Familiarity with robotic handling systems, EOATs, and automated molding cells.
- Comfortable reading job specs and understanding Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Basic math and computer literacy skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable collaborating cross-functionally.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to multi-cavity or hot runner mold systems.
- Background in high-volume, cosmetic, or tight-tolerance molding (e.g., packaging, medical, or consumer products).
- Continuous improvement mindset and prior involvement in cycle time or scrap reduction projects.
