Assistant Project Manager

Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join the site team supporting a complex, technically demanding construction program in Barstow, Texas. This is an opportunity to build deeper project management experience while working close to the action, partnering with field leadership, project teams, trade partners, and key stakeholders to keep critical work moving forward. The right candidate will gain broad exposure to electrical construction, project controls, cost and schedule management, quality, commissioning, and closeout while contributing to a high-visibility project where strong execution matters.

Focus
- Partner with project leadership to coordinate daily priorities, documentation, planning activities, and field execution needs.
- Monitor schedules, upcoming milestones, procurement dependencies, and action items to help maintain project momentum.
- Manage the flow of RFIs, submittals, scope revisions, and supporting records so open items reach the appropriate stakeholders and are resolved efficiently.
- Assist with budget monitoring, forecasting, cost reporting, change management, and schedule of values activities.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to keep required documentation, materials, deliverables, and field activities aligned.
- Help project engineers maintain quantity takeoffs, procurement records, material logs, submittals, RFIs, and related project controls.
- Collaborate with quality and commissioning teams on inspections, issue resolution, turnover readiness, and required project records.
- Support the closeout process by organizing punch items, as-built information, turnover packages, and final documentation.
- Maintain strong communication between field and project teams, proactively identifying potential schedule, cost, scope, or coordination concerns.
- Provide additional project coordination support as priorities shift throughout construction.
Skill Set
- 3+ years of project coordination or project management experience within electrical or commercial construction.
- Working knowledge of project controls, RFIs, submittals, change management, schedules, cost tracking, and closeout documentation.
- Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, or similarly complex construction projects is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, although relevant construction experience may substitute.
- Comfortable using standard construction management and office technology, with exposure to tools such as Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, estimating software, or comparable platforms.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documentation, with familiarity with CAD or BIM workflows considered valuable.
- Understanding of electrical construction, sequencing, safety practices, and quality requirements is a plus.
- Strong organization, communication, follow-through, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable coordinating across project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- OSHA, NFPA 70E, or related safety credentials are preferred.
- Ability to work primarily from the project site in Barstow, TX, including outdoor and active construction environments.
