Network Engineer, WiFi/Wireless Networking

Location: Hybrid, Houston, TX

Our client is seeking a Network Engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges while working on highly visible, technically demanding environments. This position offers the opportunity to support advanced wired and wireless networks, contribute to exciting deployment projects, and play a key role in delivering reliable connectivity for organizations that depend on uninterrupted network performance.

What You'll Do

• Design, support, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN and WLAN environments.
• Diagnose routing, switching, wireless, and network infrastructure issues across production environments.
• Perform hands on installation of networking hardware, structured cabling, fiber connections, and equipment rack deployments.
• Complete cable termination, Layer 1 troubleshooting, and physical infrastructure validation.
• Participate in customer implementations, upgrades, migrations, and ongoing network improvements.
• Provide onsite technical support while maintaining exceptional communication with customers and project stakeholders.
• Document network configurations, changes, and operational procedures.
• Assist with performance optimization, network monitoring, and proactive issue resolution.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve network reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Support critical customer environments during scheduled maintenance windows, live implementations, and special events that may require evenings, weekends, or holidays.

What We're Looking For

• Several years of hands on enterprise networking experience in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
• Enterprise WiFi experience is required.
• Experience supporting enterprise LAN and WLAN infrastructure.
• Hands on experience with hardware installation, cable termination, Layer 1 troubleshooting, fiber, and Ethernet infrastructure.
• Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and within equipment rooms during installations.
• Experience working directly with customers in technical support or deployment environments.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed for customer deployments and provide after hours support during critical events.

Experience with one or more of the following is highly valued:

• AWS or Google Cloud Platform
• VMware or Hyper V
• Python or PowerShell
• Wireshark
• Ekahau
• Ruckus
• Extreme Networks
• Fortinet
• Network automation or infrastructure scripting
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CWNA, Network Plus, or Security Plus
