Plant Manager
Location: Mesa, AZ
Our client is preparing to scale a modern residential manufacturing operation in the Phoenix metro area and is seeking a Plant Manager to lead the facility as it moves from startup into full production. This is an opportunity for an experienced construction and manufacturing leader to shape how a growing operation runs, build the team and culture from the ground up, and establish the operating discipline needed for long-term expansion. The ideal leader understands both residential construction and factory operations and thrives in an environment where processes are evolving, problems need to be solved quickly, and strong execution has a direct impact on business performance.
This Role Offers:
- Competitive base compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
- Opportunity to take ownership of an important new operation as it progresses through launch, production ramp-up, and future expansion.
- Significant influence over plant culture, operating practices, team development, and performance standards.
- Long-term leadership potential as production capacity, staffing, and the organization's regional footprint grow.
Focus:
- Lead daily plant execution across production, maintenance, quality, material movement, and supporting operational functions.
- Recruit, develop, and lead the facility team while establishing clear accountability, effective communication, and a collaborative, results-oriented culture.
- Direct production planning and execution, balancing people, equipment, materials, and changing project requirements to meet schedule and delivery expectations.
- Own plant financial performance, including P&L management, budgeting, cost control, labor productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Establish strong quality and safety practices that support consistent production, regulatory compliance, and a safe working environment.
- Work closely with construction and technical partners during production ramp-up to solve operational challenges, refine workflows, and strengthen execution.
- Use meaningful operating metrics to improve throughput, cycle time, cost, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
- Prepare the organization for future growth by developing leaders, strengthening processes, and supporting additional production capacity and shifts.
Skill Set:
- 15 or more years of leadership experience within housing construction processes or manufacturing operations, with residential construction industry experience required and prefab or timber-based residential manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ownership of operational and financial performance, including P&L responsibility, cost management, production management, quality control, and workplace health and safety.
- Proven ability to lead sizable frontline teams and create accountability, teamwork, and strong performance as an operation grows.
- Strong understanding of how manufacturing execution connects with residential construction requirements, particularly in project-driven environments where individual builds may differ.
- Experience improving processes and supporting organizational growth. Exposure to expanding production capacity, adding lines, shifts, or facilities is beneficial.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related discipline, or comparable industry experience.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to work effectively across operations, construction, technical teams, and executive leadership.
