Lead Structural Engineer
Location: On-Site | Anaheim, CA
A nationally recognized architecture and engineering consulting firm is seeking a seasoned Lead Structural Engineer to join their growing team in the greater Anaheim area. This firm is known for tackling some of the most complex and impactful projects in the Western United States, spanning commercial, industrial, public infrastructure, and beyond. This is a high-visibility role with direct influence over key projects, processes, and team development. The ideal candidate is an experienced project engineer with a passion for structural design and a track record of mentoring teams through design execution, review, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee structural design and engineering across a variety of mid- to large-scale projects including commercial buildings, bridges, and industrial structures. Utilize materials such as wood, concrete, masonry, structural steel, and cold-formed steel.
- Manage structural engineering deliverables from kickoff through final delivery. Drive schedules, resource allocation, and quality control for engineering work products.
- Serve as a coach and leader to junior structural engineers and design staff. Provide direction, conduct design reviews, and support long-term career development.
- Work closely with external clients and internal partners to understand project goals and translate them into actionable structural solutions.
- Perform detailed structural analysis, evaluations, and simulations to optimize performance, cost, and safety across all phases.
- Ensure all work adheres to applicable building codes, engineering standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE), and internal quality control protocols.
- Promote the use of new technologies and structural systems where appropriate. Champion continuous improvement within the department.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (focus in Structural Engineering required); Master’s degree preferred.
- Active PE license required, SE license a strong plus.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or team management capacity.
- Deep expertise with engineering software tools such as RISA Suite, 3D Foundation, Section, AutoCAD. Familiarity with Revit a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, permitting, and structural documentation standards.
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience managing project budgets, client communication, and engineering team performance.
