RF Specialist – Public Safety DAS

Our client is expanding its public safety wireless capabilities and is seeking an RF Specialist to help deliver reliable in-building communications systems across projects nationwide. This is a hands-on opportunity for an RF professional who enjoys solving complex signal challenges, working directly with field teams, and seeing projects through commissioning and acceptance. The position combines remote flexibility with extensive field involvement, giving the right candidate exposure to diverse facilities, technical environments, and public safety communications projects.

Focus:

• Commission and validate public safety DAS and emergency responder radio coverage systems through field testing, acceptance support, and performance verification.
• Troubleshoot in-building RF performance by evaluating coverage, interference, isolation, noise, gain, loss, and related system behavior.
• Perform uplink and downlink testing and document results for project teams, code officials, and other stakeholders.
• Support system optimization by identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and confirming performance after adjustments.
• Review RF heatmaps, design packages, and construction drawings to verify installed systems align with project requirements.
• Participate in site walks, inspections, commissioning activities, and acceptance testing at facilities across the country.
• Keep thorough project documentation capturing site activities, technical findings, and operational results from initial execution through completion.
• Communicate technical findings clearly to field teams, project leadership, customers, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Skill Set:

• Bring 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience with RF systems, public safety DAS, ERRCS/ERCES, wireless communications, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrate strong RF fundamentals across VHF/UHF, 700/800 MHz, P25, LTE, noise, gain, loss, and signal behavior.
• Commission and validate ERRCS/ERCES systems using RF test methods, field measurements, and documented acceptance criteria.
• Read and interpret RF heatmaps, design plans, construction drawings, and technical documentation used to guide field work.
• Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to isolate RF issues and determine practical corrective actions.
• Work confidently in active construction environments and perform frequent nationwide field travel as project needs require.
• Use working knowledge of electrical fundamentals such as grounding, circuits, and power levels when evaluating system performance.
• Hold a valid driver's license and be comfortable working from ladders, lifts, and elevated areas when required.
