Transportation Dispatch Manager – Logistics & Fleet Operations

Our client is a fast-growing bulk-materials carrier that runs one of the Southwest’s largest pneumatic and dump‐truck fleets. After doubling its asset count in the past five years and rolling out an AI-driven transportation-management system (TMS), the company is adding a Transportation Dispatch Manager to elevate 24/7 fleet performance, modernize processes, and prepare for multi-state expansion. This role reports directly to ownership, offers high visibility, and carries a clear path to director level for the right leader.

- Schedule: Hybrid model - roughly three days per week on-site; availability for after-hours escalations as part of a shared rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day dispatch for 80 + company and contract trucks across Arizona and neighboring states, guaranteeing round-the-clock coverage and on-time service.
- Mentor, schedule, and develop a team of 4 – 6 dispatchers; set clear KPIs and coach to results.
- Drive full adoption of a new cloud-based TMS, digitizing load assignment, route planning, paperwork, and real-time tracking.
- Monitor driver HOS and DOT compliance, partnering with safety and maintenance to resolve issues quickly.
- Analyze utilization, empty miles, and on-time percentages; present weekly KPI dashboards to leadership.
- Serve as the after-hours escalation point for urgent driver or customer concerns, maintaining service continuity.
- Lead continuous-improvement projects that cut cost per mile, boost driver satisfaction, and strengthen customer loyalty.
Qualifications
- 3 + years’ leadership experience in dispatch, fleet, or logistics operations; bulk or aggregate hauling strongly preferred.
- Proven success managing a 24/7 or multi-shift environment with rotating schedules.
- Hands-on expertise with modern TMS/GPS platforms and solid grasp of DOT/FMSCA regulations.
- Data-driven mindset and ability to translate metrics into actionable process improvements.
