Underground Utility Operator

Schedule:

  • Hourly position with willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Occasional night work with weekend work a few times each year.
  • Rare travel assignments based on project needs.


What You'll Do

  • Install underground conduit, vaults, foundations, and related infrastructure for electrical and utility construction projects.
  • Operate equipment including mini excavators, skid steers, trenchers, compactors, and similar construction machinery.
  • Excavate and prepare work areas while protecting existing underground utilities.
  • Assist with installation of underground electrical systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Read construction drawings and follow project specifications.
  • Perform grading, restoration, concrete replacement, asphalt repair, and general site cleanup.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Follow OSHA requirements, traffic control procedures, and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with field crews, supervisors, inspectors, and project leadership to deliver quality work on schedule.


What We're Looking For

  • Experience in underground utility, electrical, traffic signal, or heavy construction work preferred.
  • Experience safely operating construction equipment in an outdoor environment.
  • Strong work ethic with dependable attendance.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and high quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a field crew.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one within 180 days of hire.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to read construction drawings is preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • Traffic Control certification is a plus.
