Product Manager, Electronic Systems

Location & Work Style:

This is a U.S.-based position. To facilitate onsite collaboration and lab access, we prefer candidates in NY, GA, NC, or TX. International travel to Asia manufacturing partners required ~2x/year.

  • Preferred location: Greater NYC area; open to relocation for highly qualified candidates(NYC area only).
  • If not local, available to travel to NYC as needed (~1x/month).
  • International travel to Asia manufacturing partners twice a year (2 weeks at a time)

Our client is a mid-sized, fast-growing designer of low-voltage power and control solutions used across architectural lighting, IoT devices, and consumer electronics. They have doubled new-product launches over the past two years and are investing heavily in next-gen power-conversion platforms. As the Product Manager, Electronic Systems, you will be the linchpin between global engineering, manufacturing, and go-to-market teams-owning the roadmap from whiteboard concept through post-launch optimization. Focus:

  • Drive the full product lifecycle for embedded power and control modules-concept, feasibility, design reviews, validation, launch, and in-field support.
  • Translate market trends and voice-of-customer feedback into clear product requirements, technical specifications, and business cases.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities with Asia-based engineering partners, providing actionable feedback that accelerates design iterations and maintains quality.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to align roadmap priorities with revenue goals and brand strategy.
  • Develop and maintain documentation packages: BOMs, PCB stack-ups, compliance matrices, test plans, and user instructions.
  • Monitor competitive landscapes, emerging standards, and adjacent technologies to recommend new features or spin-off platforms.
  • Act as the technical point of contact during customer escalations, troubleshooting power-supply or firmware-integration issues alongside cross-functional teams.
  • Track project KPIs-schedule adherence, margin targets, and quality metrics-delivering concise status updates to stakeholders.

Skill Set:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or other engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years working with power electronics, LED drivers, or embedded systems, including recent hands-on circuit and PCB design.
  • Solid grasp of firmware/software interaction (C, Python, or similar) and IoT connectivity fundamentals.
  • Proven success shepherding multiple hardware products from ideation to shipment while influencing teams you don’t directly manage.
  • Familiarity with ECAD/MCAD tools such as Altium, PADS, SolidWorks, and common simulation packages.
  • Willingness to travel internationally 15 % (primarily to Asia engineering and manufacturing sites).

Nice-to-Have Extras:

  • Experience at companies known for innovative power supplies.
  • Familiarity with Gerber/drill files or thermal design best practices.
