Our client is a rapidly expanding, nationally recognized architecture-and-engineering firm that invests heavily in leading-edge technology, sustainability, and talent development. As Principal Architect, you will set the creative and technical vision for high-profile commercial, civic, and mixed-use projects across Southern California, while mentoring a passionate cross-disciplinary team. This role is ideal for a design leader ready to shape a studio’s culture, client portfolio, and long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall design direction, resource planning, and profitability oversight for the architecture group.
  • Guide projects from concept through construction administration, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality benchmarks are met.
  • Serve as the primary contact for owners, developers, and municipal reviewers, translating stakeholder goals into actionable solutions.
  • Coordinate closely with structural, MEP, civil, and survey teams to deliver fully integrated documents.
  • Oversee drawing and specification reviews, maintaining alignment with California Building Code, ADA, and sustainability standards.
  • Champion BIM 360 and other digital collaboration tools to streamline workflows and reduce rework.
  • Recruit, coach, and inspire emerging architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Track emerging materials, delivery methods, and carbon-reduction strategies, embedding best practices into studio processes.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Licensed Architect (RA) with eligibility to stamp projects in California.
  • 10+ years of progressive design experience, including recent leadership of multi-disciplinary teams on $10M+ buildings.
  • Mastery of Revit, AutoCAD, and collaborative project-management platforms.
  • Proven success managing client relationships, contract negotiations, and project financials.
  • Deep knowledge of accessibility, life-safety, and energy-code requirements.
  • Strong presentation, mentorship, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience integrating sustainable design principles; LEED or WELL accreditation is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Competitive six-figure base salary plus performance bonus.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with match.
  • Generous PTO, paid holidays, and professional-development stipend.
  • Modern, collaborative studio environment with cutting-edge technology.
  • Clear path to studio and regional leadership roles.
