Principal Architect, Secure Network Connectivity
Location: Hybrid, Austin TX (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Our client is a global cybersecurity innovator protecting enterprises, governments, and consumers against advanced threats. Their quest for global digital security is propelled by extensive research, cutting-edge AI insights, and an unwavering commitment to bulletproof connectivity. As the Principal Architect, Secure Network Connectivity, you will own the technical vision for a highly distributed platform that links customer-deployed connectors with cloud-hosted services. The choices you make will impact how millions access vital resources safely, while also giving engineering teams the freedom to innovate quickly and autonomously.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft the blueprint for a hybrid security platform that seamlessly integrates on-prem and cloud components, prioritizing scalability, robustness, and future-proof design.
- Establish architectural guardrails covering regional failover, performance budgets, and upgrade paths so that semi-autonomous teams can ship without excessive coordination
- Drive system-wide technology choices (transport, multiplexing, RPC, data-flow patterns) based on proven trade-off analyses
- Create and maintain architecture artefacts—design docs, diagrams, reference implementations—to keep stakeholders aligned
- Provide active design reviews and mentorship that raise the bar for distributed-systems thinking across multiple feature teams
- Prototype critical components when needed to de-risk ideas and unblock delivery
- Collaborate with product, field engineering, and security research groups to craft elegant integration patterns for internal and internet-facing resources
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of owning complex distributed systems, with expertise in scaling, performance optimization, and fault tolerance
- Expert-level understanding of L4/L7 networking fundamentals and protocol selection in production environments
- Experience designing cloud-hosted SaaS offerings that interoperate with customer-side components; Azure knowledge preferred
- Proven ability to set architectural direction for multiple semi-autonomous teams and communicate trade-offs to diverse audiences
- Hands-on software development background with the confidence to contribute production code when it matters
Nice to Have
- Background in building secure connectivity products such as gateways, proxies, or zero-trust access platforms
- Experience steering long-lived systems through multiple versions and deployment models
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and how to weave them into modern SDLC workflows
Success in This Role Looks Like
- New capabilities slot cleanly into the platform without disruptive refactors
- Teams can rapidly build and deploy within clear, well-structured tech frameworks
- The system dynamically juggles speed, stability, and dev efficiency
This Role Offers
- Competitive base salary plus performance bonus
- Full-suite health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
- Robust 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, and 14 paid holidays
- Programs to support your well-being, mental health, and growing family
- Tuition reimbursement and professional-development allowances
- A culture rooted in inclusion, innovation, and collaboration
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
