Chief Commercial Officer
Location: Remote, Nationwide
Our client is an emerging energy technology company entering a defining stage of commercial growth. With its technology progressing into real-world production and customer deployment, the organization is preparing to scale its presence across the United States and international markets. The Chief Commercial Officer will have the opportunity to build the commercial engine behind that expansion, shape how the company approaches some of the world's largest power consumers, and turn a differentiated energy platform into a scalable global business. This is a high-impact executive opportunity for a commercial builder who wants meaningful influence over customers, strategy, organizational design, and the company's next phase of growth.
This Role Offers:
- Opportunity to become the senior commercial leader responsible for building and scaling a global revenue organization during a major commercialization inflection point.
- Significant influence over go-to-market strategy, market selection, pricing, customer development, commercial processes, and organizational design.
- Direct partnership with the CEO and executive leadership team, along with meaningful exposure to the board, investors, and strategic stakeholders.
- A compelling market opportunity driven by rapidly increasing demand for reliable, distributed, and mission-critical power solutions.
- The ability to pursue transformational relationships across the data center, power generation, utility, infrastructure, and industrial markets.
- An entrepreneurial environment where the successful executive can create the commercial playbook rather than inherit a mature system.
- Competitive executive compensation with meaningful performance incentives and equity participation.
- A nationwide remote structure for a US-based executive, paired with extensive domestic and international travel.
Focus:
- Define and execute the global commercial strategy, translating market opportunities into customer acquisition, revenue growth, and long-term expansion.
- Build and scale the commercial organization across sales, business development, strategic partnerships, marketing alignment, and commercial operations.
- Personally develop executive relationships and lead major opportunities across data centers, power generation, utilities, infrastructure, and industrial markets.
- Strengthen the company's US commercial presence while supporting strategic customer and partner opportunities across international markets.
- Lead complex opportunities from initial customer engagement through solution development, negotiation, contracting, deployment coordination, and account expansion.
- Establish scalable approaches to pricing, deal structure, pipeline management, forecasting, account prioritization, and commercial performance.
- Recruit and develop a high-performing team while creating a commercial culture centered on customers, accountability, urgency, and execution.
- Partner with engineering, operations, finance, and product leadership to translate customer requirements into actionable business and deployment priorities.
- Develop strategic relationships and alliances across the energy and infrastructure ecosystem that accelerate adoption and expand market access.
- Serve as a senior commercial voice with the CEO, board, investors, customers, and partners while remaining directly involved in critical pursuits and negotiations.
Skill Set:
- 15 or more years of progressive commercial experience within power generation, distributed energy, clean technology, industrial technology, energy infrastructure, or closely related markets.
- Demonstrated success building or materially scaling a commercial function within a high-growth, entrepreneurial, venture-backed, or similarly dynamic organization.
- Proven experience commercializing complex physical technology involving significant capital investment, technical evaluation, and extended customer decision cycles.
- Strong record of personally developing, negotiating, and closing large and complex energy, infrastructure, power, or industrial transactions.
- Established credibility within the US power and data center ecosystem, including relationships with senior decision-makers across relevant customer and partner organizations.
- Commercial experience with multiple customer groups such as hyperscale and data center operators, independent power producers, utilities, engineering and construction firms, distributed generation providers, and large industrial organizations.
- Demonstrated ownership of go-to-market strategy, pricing, contracting, pipeline development, forecasting, and other commercial operating disciplines.
- Entrepreneurial and hands-on leadership style, with the ability to build teams and processes while personally opening doors, advancing opportunities, and closing business.
- Executive-level business judgment, communication, and negotiation capabilities, with the credibility to engage customers, boards, investors, strategic partners, and technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree required, with advanced education preferred. Must be US-based and comfortable with extensive domestic and international travel. Experience with distributed or mission-critical power markets and international commercialization is highly valued.
