Transportation Manager

Location: Vero Beach, FL


Our client is seeking a hands-on Transportation Manager to take ownership of a fast-moving transportation operation in Vero Beach. This is an opportunity for an experienced logistics leader to make a meaningful impact on daily execution, driver performance, fleet efficiency, carrier strategy, and transportation costs. The right candidate will combine strong frontline leadership with the ability to solve problems quickly, improve processes, and keep a complex mix of company fleet and third-party transportation running smoothly.


This Role Offers:

Focus:

  • Lead daily transportation execution, including routing, scheduling, dispatch, delivery performance, and rapid response to service issues.
  • Oversee Class A private fleet activity, including drivers, equipment utilization, trailer positioning, and yard flow.
  • Manage third-party carrier relationships, including sourcing capacity, negotiating freight rates, monitoring performance, and resolving service concerns.
  • Maintain transportation and driver documentation while reinforcing DOT requirements and safe operating practices.
  • Coach and develop drivers and transportation personnel while establishing clear expectations around safety, service, and accountability.
  • Use ERP, warehouse, transportation, and routing systems to support shipment planning, visibility, documentation, and reporting.
  • Monitor transportation costs, fleet utilization, service levels, and other operating metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate closely with warehouse, customer service, and operational teams to address constraints and maintain reliable shipment execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen transportation efficiency, cost control, service, and overall operating performance.


Skill Set:

  • 3 or more years of transportation, logistics, or supply chain experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Direct experience leading drivers or transportation personnel and managing daily routing, scheduling, dispatch, and delivery operations.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Class A private fleet operations combined with third-party carrier management.
  • Experience sourcing carriers, negotiating freight rates, and evaluating transportation provider performance.
  • Working knowledge of DOT compliance requirements with experience maintaining driver and transportation documentation.
  • ERP and WMS experience required, with NetSuite and RFSmart preferred. TMS or routing technology experience is also valued.
  • Forklift and pallet jack certification required.
  • High school diploma or GED required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
